Urban Dynamics is a consultant town planning firm, established more than 30 years ago, with combined professional experience of more than 100 years. Our company strives to play a continued leading role in the property development industry of the Western Cape.
Urban Dynamics was established in Cape Town in 1991. Since then the firm has played a leading role in development planning in the Western Cape. We offer expert professional town planning services, including all aspects of the statutory process management involved in acquiring / unlocking land development rights. Our objective is to provide focused consultant service to private developers, municipalities and all other levels of government in the property development industry of South Africa. We pride ourselves in uncompromised quality of service, personal attention to client and stakeholder management and the ability to manage complex and mega-scale projects by applying our many years of professional experience.

PAUL OLDEN
Managing Director
Paul Olden is widely acknowledged for his skilled ability in managing multi-disciplinary teams through the often complex and challenging statutory planning processes. His experience in the planning field spans over more than 32 years. His track record includes many successful high profile projects covering a wide range of different commercial clients, developers and authorities. His experience includes Harbour Arch, Oakland City and Frankendale Industrial, to name a few. He is passionate about town planning and has the proven ability and leadership skills to seek innovative and optimal solutions to town planning / development related challenges.
GERHARD SWART
Director
Gerhard Swart is a widely experienced urban and regional planner with a vast range of experience from strategic regional policy planning, local level municipal forward planning through to statutory development planning. His experience of more than 31 years spans a variety of different planning environments from coastal resort planning in sensitive ecological areas to large scale industrial, retail, residential, golf estates and subsidized low-cost residential townships.
PJ LERM
Director
PJ Lerm has 18 years experience in town planning, including spatial policy planning, commercial development applications and integrated human settlement development. He has a keen interest in resolving complex land use development challenges, thereby finding the most sustainable solution in the best interest of all stake holders.
WICKUS NEETHLING
Town Planner
Wickus Neethling joined Urban Dynamics in 2022 and has since been a dynamic planner in the company. He has more than 9 years experience in town and regional planning and the coordination of various land use applications, including process facilitation and property research.
MANIE PAPENFUS
Town Planner
Manie Papenfus joined Urban Dynamics in 2022. He has more than 8 years experience in town and regional planning and the coordination of various land use applications, including process facilitation and property research.
LINDSEY LOOTS
Town Planner
Lindsey Loots joined Urban Dynamics after completing her Master of City and Regional Planning Degree. She is a dynamic young planner, with 3 years experience, and has research experience pertaining to urban mobility, and national and local spatial policy. She is responsible for the compilation of various land use applications and spatial policy work.
HENRO DE BEER
Town Planner
Henro de Beer is a Town Planner with 5 years working experience in town and regional planning, predominantly in the renewable energy, residential and agricultural sectors.
FERDI BRITZ
Cadastral Specialist
Ferdi Britz is a qualified and registered Geomatics Technician with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC). He has more than 32 years experience within the survey environment. He specializes in current and historical cadastral research; title deed conditions; property reconstruction and historical aerial photography. He is responsible for researching and compiling all the baseline information regarding new projects; investigates all constraints that may restrict potential development; and creating an accurate cadastral base system for all future planning. He is skilled in AutoCad and ArcGIS. He is also responsible for all integrated township layout plans within the office.
ALBERT ELLIS
GIS Specialist
Albert Ellis is a qualified registered (SAGC) GIS expert with more than 17 years experience. He manages all GIS software and data in the office, producing and updating maps for policy planning, municipal Spatial Development Frameworks (SDF's), zoning maps and contextual property maps.
ERIKA BEZUIDENHOUT
Admin Manager
Erika Bezuidenhout has 39 years experience in secretarial support. She takes responsibility for administrative management, bookkeeping, management and HR support in the office.
ELMIEN NOTHNAGEL
Secretary & Personal Assistant
Elmien Nothnagel has 30 years experience in secretarial support. She is the senior personal assistant to the directors in the company, assisting with day-to-day administrative functions in the office.
YANKE ERWEE
Receptionist
Yanke Erwee is our friendly Receptionist who is responsible for answering telephone calls, and welcoming guests to the office. She is also assisting with general admin and tender compilation.
